Jayne Mann - Clarence Mann
Author and Assistant of the book Bring on the Clowns: An Assessment of the
Origin of the Shih Tzu<

Mrs. Mann is holding a Chinese Imperial Dog owned by Judy McAtee.
Jayne Mann has been nvolved with the Shih Tzu breed for decades, not
only by showing and finishing many Champions as owner/handler, but also
by serving as a ring steward in AKC Show events. She is co-founder of the
Shih Tzu Club of Southeastern Michigan, and along
with her husband Clarence Mann.
Clarence Mann made 5 trips
to China, not only for pleasure, but to
research the history of the Shih Tzu. Clarence wrote the well known
book, Bring on the Clowns, assisted, of course, by Jayne. Sadly,
Clarence Mann died in 1996.
Today, Jayne is a retired
Home Economics teacher and lives in the
beautiful family home in Michigan. She has 6 children, 12
grandchildren, and 6 great grand children.
Jayne fondly remembers one
of her favorite Shih Tzu, named June.
According to Jayne, June was "a feisty little thing" weighing in at 8
lbs. June died in 1995 after getting ill unexpectedly.
We at CIDCA recognize the
lifetime devotion that Jayne and her husband,
Clarence, have shown to the dog world in general, the Shih Tzu breed
specifically, and the history of the brachycephalic breeds
universally, among them the Chinese Imperial Dog.
>For this contribution and
dedication, CIDCA bestowed upon Jayne, a life
time membership in CIDCA, which she has graciously accepted.
Thank you Jayne for all
your hard work.

My name is Deb Waddell, I have been raising
Chinese Imperials for almost 15 years now. My goal as a breeder is to
put top quality dogs into a smaller package! The Chinese Imperial is the
most wonderful dog you could ever have. They are loving, easy to spoil
and too cute for words! We have 3 or 4 litters a year, and the joy and
excitement of helping bring these treasures into the world is impossible
to describe. We carefully select adopted parents for each baby, and
stay in touch with the new parents for years to come!
My husband, daughter, and I live on Catawba
Island, in NW Ohio, on the shores of Lake Erie. We have a rustic home on
2 acres which we have been remodeling forever! My husband's carpentry
skill have come in handy remodeling part of our home into my business-
Gentle Touch Pet Grooming. I am also a Reiki Master, and a Pet Massage
Therapist. We use natural foods, aromatherapy, homeopathic and holistic
methods, along with the services of our local veterinarian.
The Chinese Imperial Dog is the best little dog
you could ever have come into your life. They have been raised as a
lapdog / companion for thousand of years, and they are very good at what
they do!

My name is Denise VanHuysen, I live in sunny Arizona
with my hubby who is a painting contractor. I help with the business
when I have the time, watching 4 Chinese Imperials, 2 Boxer's, and 1 cat
keeps me busy. I am a hobby breeder only having a couple litters a
year. I breed for conformation, size, temperament and of course healthy
happy babies.
When I went to buy my first 2 Shih Tzu's they were
really Chinese Imperials, at that time I wasn't sure what imperials
were. I read all I could get my hands on about the imperial size and I'm
still learning. I love this breed and so glad I found this club to help
me learn more. I'm proud to be a member of the Chinese Imperial Club,
and would like to make friends with everyone in the club who loves the
imperials as I do.

I just love everything about breeding.! Studying genetics and painting
the perfect puppies in my mind.
Striving to out do myself with every mating.
Feeling the puppies kick in a pregnant female still makes me cry after 35 years of breeding.
The miracle of birth. Wow! It fascinates and excites me. I was born to be a breeder.
Kissing and holding my newborns. Singing to them and at 3 weeks and having them recognize my
voice.
Staring at them when they sleep. Weaning them and teaching them that they will be loved and cherished forever.
Talking to a new buyer. Feeling their excitement of getting a new puppy.
I get to live this feeling over and over through them. Wow I have it made.
Getting photos and getting phone calls about how happy they are with their puppy.
Getting those phone calls when their dog is old and they want another puppy from me
and say I don't want a puppy from anyone but you because you have made our lives so happy.
I was blessed to have the best husband in the world,
Yep, I just love everything about breeding !

I live in South Eastern Idaho with my husband, David.
I work as a paralegal for a larger law firm. I am almost an empty
nester as my last child of four will be going off to college soon. I
started out raising Lhasa Apsos in 2001 but switched to Imperials in
2007 when I got my first little Imperial, Sophie and fell in love with
the breed.
Before joining the CIDCA in 2007, I thought that
breeding was nothing more than putting two cute dogs together. I have
learned it is so much more and I have gained so much knowledge from
being in this club and have made so many wonderful, life-long friends. I
love the feeling of knowing that anytime I have a problem or question,
there is always someone who is there to help and support me.
I am very excited about the direction this club is
taking with our Registry and possibly showing our CIDs soon. It seems
like the enthusiasm is contagious and I am very proud to be a part of
it.

Rompin' Lil' Chinese Imperials
Website - rompinlilshihtzu.com
Email - rompinlilshihtzus@yahoo.com
Hi I'm Shari, I'm the mother of one incredible
daughter, Kimberly, whom is my partner in this venture. I was raised on a
farm in Colorado, so animals and breeding has always been a way of
life. I moved to South West with my family when I was younger and I just
fell in love with the town. My daughter Kimberly was born and raised
here in South west but has a lot of the country girl, down to earth
qualities. She and her husband have one baby girl named Elizabeth and
also live here in Vegas so between both of us this dream of breeding
these wonderful tiny babies was born.
So our venture began several years ago when we bought
one shih tzu, a sweet little girl. She needed a playmate and one soon
became two. We soon after found the Chinese Imperial and just fell in
love with them, we just love the tiny ones! It didn't take long via the
Internet to start locating some of these tiny little dolls. Soon
fascination for tiny imperials transformed into obsession. Now we have
several. Both of our houses are now full of loving little fluffy
children. They don't know their dogs, & don't tell them any
different. They would never believe you anyway.
We want to stay a small breeder family, so the
personal touch doesn't get lost. Our first concern is health, we want
our babies to live a long, full life. We are dedicated to making sure
that we breed top quality, wonderful imperials that anyone would be
happy to bring into their family. The tiny size is a bonus we are able
to achieve by breeding only the best of the best. I've met some great
breeders and have learned so much from them. We are a kind of melting
pot that has blended together from the experiences of many, including
ourselves.
It is a pleasure being a part of the CIDCA and having
all the wonderful people who love these little ones as much as we do!!
We hope that you fall in love with them as much as we have.

Arizona Shih Tzu
Website - ArizonaShihTzu.com

Well Hi! My name is Jeri and my husband is Jackson.
We live in Surprise Arizona, raising our tiny dogs as well as our
grandsons. We also self employed, Jackson creates beautiful hand crafted
buckles, bracelets and accessories. So between us all in our home 24-7
our puppies are very socialized. I must say, I've been watching the
Chinese Imperial Dog Club growing fast over the past few years. First
time I visited, there was only a hand full of members. At the time, I
was encouraged to join although didn't feel we had enough tiny dogs to
qualify, most in the 9-10 pound range. Coming from tiny sires, many were
naturally having puppies that matured at only 5-8 pounds and they were
so adorable.. how could anyone not love a tiny Imperial? They fit so
sweet in your lap! True love in a tiny package!
Well, we now have seven AKC registered Shih Tzus
under their standard size requirements... So thought it time to join and
support this group to help others understand these sweet tiny dogs need
a home of their own... to be recognize by AKC as Chinese Imperials.
Please visit our website.. it's not professionally
done.. although created with love.. always a work in progress. We
currently do not have the weights of our dogs listed although if you
email us we can let you know which ones are tiny.
It's exciting to share our tiny dogs with Chinese Imperial Club, knowing you all love them as much as we do!
Puppy Hugs!

Hello,
My name is Wilma Marvin. I retired from Ma Bell in
1995. I have always loved dogs and horses and wanted to have both. I
live in a small town, Linden, in TN. Don't blink or you will miss it. I
have an adult son living in Jax, FL, and an adult grandson living in
Atlanta. My dogs ARE my family.
I became interested in Shih Tzu in 1990 when I
acquired Nikki from a breeder I was visiting with another breeder
friend. At the time I was raising Pomeranians and was very proud of
what I had accomplished with them. Somehow I was never satisfied with
the Poms after I got Nikki. I ended up selling out and trying to find
small Shih Tzu. It has taken me since 2004 to get the type of dog I
want to raise and I am so glad to find this club as it is what I have
been looking for. The members have the same goals as I have and are
working to make them a reality. I just hope to be a part of this soon
to be reality of the CID breed.
I still have Nikki, she is under my desk as I type
and also several others that all think I am Mama. I no longer have any
Poms as there is no other dog to compare to a CID. I am trying to
raise the ultimate in a lapdog and all around companion. Be aware you
will need a larger bed if you get a Chinese Imperial Dog because no one
can buy just one and they sleep with you!

I live in Southern California and currently work for
the biggest HMO company in So.Cal, I work as a Pharmacy Tech. and
totally love it ..... somedays. MY greatest joy would be to dedicate
myself to the CID and produce the best of the best.
I have wanted a ShihTzu since I was probably 9 yrs
old. When those GO-GO walking dog toys came out. But I never got one. As
soon as I moved out on my own I started looking around and found that
there were 2 different types of this similar dog, since I didnt want a
medium sized dog I opted for the chinese imperial and found a breeder I
liked and seemed honest.
It was then I bought my first Chinese Imperial Shih-tzu from
MoonriverShihTzu.
He is absolutely the greatest I've ever had the
priviledge of owning. I love the CHinese Imperial DOG! Im totally
obsessed and on my way to getting my 2nd one in less than a year. They
are the best dogs out there! You get hooked and there's no letting go.
My current CID is 6 months old, his name is Ross, and
he is the cutest little cuddle bug around! Im totally looking forward
to breeding this little dog and helping to better the line. I cant wait
until the CID is recognized by the AKC!!

Growing up in the country,
I was afforded the luxury of lots of animals, from farm animals and
horses to many breeds of dogs and cats. My parents raised dogs
throughout my childhood and taught me the value of God's creation, and
life itself, through our animals and the responsibility that goes with
caring for them. I am now teaching my 12 children all those lessons
through my CID's. I have 10 beautiful Imps. My Imperials teach us how
to live life each day by showing us the meaning of love, how to smile
and laugh at ourselves, to never hold a grudge, to lovingly "grow our
children", to be loyal and trusting, to welcome strangers, to play
hard... rest often, and never worry about tomorrow... In my opinion the
CID is the perfect dog!
I live in Northern Illinois
on 3 acres with my wonderful husband, 8
children still at home, my Imps, a Catahoula Leopard dog and 2 pet
goats! I breed for great temperaments, perfect health, and to fit the
CIDCA standard. CIDCA is a club designed for and by its members and I
am very proud to be a part of it. CIDCA is just one of the ways I can

I live on two acres in rural Maine. The dogs & I
live in a small home designed for our comfort and needs. They have a
solid roof over their outside back yard and doggy doors so they can go
in and out as they please. My son and grandson live 750 miles away in
Virginia, so the dogs are my family in Maine.
As a child I was fascinated with all animals and
everything about them. My grandfather took me on frequent adventures.
One summer he bought me a dozen chickens! We more often than not ended
up at the pet store or pony riding. Much to my mother's disapproval my
grandfather bought me bunnies, goldfish, parakeets, turtles, and for my
fifth birthday he bought me my first puppy. I was already thinking about
breeding. I named my puppy Happy and planned on naming his mate Lucky.
Happy ended up living with Grandpa & Lucky never came. Fortunately
my grandparents lived downstairs.
I've been raising Shih Tzu since 1980. I have always
preferred the smaller Tzu and had 7 to 10lb dogs from the beginning. I
have had puppies that matured at just 3.5lbs. The term "Imperial Shih
Tzu" showed up in magazines before long and I was spellbound. Chinese
Imperial Dogs came a bit later. Our club has made great progress
promoting the breed, encouraging genetic testing, and is working towards
getting our imps recognized by AKC. What delightful little creatures
they are!

My husband, David, and I live in Warrenton MO about 1
hour west of St Louis. Our house is on almost 2 acres, mostly wooded.
We moved my parents in with us last year due to illness. David and I
have 4 married daughters and 11 treasures you would call grandbabies. 8
girls and 3 boys. My husband is retired from Boeing, NA. Space Shuttle
Division. I have 30 years accounting and finance beginning with US Air
Force. I am an Air Force brat as well.
Before we got our first "Baby" I did a lot of
research on several dog breeds. At the time of my research I had several
health issues that kept me "down" most of the time. My Abby has given
me a new purpose.
After having 2 false pregnancies with Abby we decided
to visit Debra Jensen (we wanted the best of the best) in Las Vegas to
pick up our 2 new additions, Mr. Jackson and Ms. Cocoa. Jackson has
black hair. Ms Cocoa is copper with black markings.
We have a home business http://DawnAnnette.myzrii.com Amalaki, the
perfect rejuvenator. This product is endorsed by the Chopra Center for
Wellbeing. This is NEW/Prelaunch and Goes public in May 2008. 1 product,
1 team, 1 chance for profit share by May 2008. Are you ready for Health
& Wealth??
This business allows us time to travel in our motor
home to see our family and still take our Babies with us. We have family
from Maine to California REALLY. Our "Babies" love 4-wheelin' and
hiking with us. I made a sling to carry them in when they get tired. All
3 love to sing with my step-mom. We have a BIG bed so everyone has a
spot to sleep. It's a Puppy Cluster every night. We all sleep like star
fish (poor David). Mr. Jackson is a clean nut, he cleans all their
dishes so clean that you could put them back in the cabinet. Ms Cocoa is
our thief. She steals and hides all the toys. Abby rules the house, she
gets her way with everyone. She loves watching Animal Planet. We are
looking forward to our first babies later this year. I'm sure I will be
on the phone with Debra Jensen for many hour with our first litter. We
love our CID beauties.

my entire life. I had always wanted to be a veterinarian but after
working as a vet tech while attending University of California at Davis I
discovered I really didn't like blood! I ended up as a Children's

Now I am a happily married stay-at-home Mom to two

involved in the very important job of socialization and they do it quite
well! They make the often tough and sometime heartbreaking job as a
breeder even more rewarding. I do take breeding very seriously and
always put health and temperament first. Type, size, and color are very
important to me, but never come before health and temperament. I tend to
be picky, and a bit of a perfectionist, but this can be a good thing
when applied to a breeding program as I am always looking to improve. I
do lean toward the small size of the standard in my personal preferences
and my dogs reflect that.

I have loved dogs since I can first remember being around one at about age two. I have had them in my life ever since.
My husband who is my friend as well as everything
else I want in a husband. We dated for three years before we decided to
marry. I really never wanted to marry again, but he talked me into it
and I'm not sorry that he did. He is a terrific man, intelligent and
sensitive. A wonderful father and husband. He makes me laugh and I feel
so good being with him.
I have met many good friends and learned so very
much. I want to learn everyday. I think learning keeps you young at
heart. The dogs keep me smiling and the puppies make me feel all warm
and full of hope.
I now have three breeds, or should I say four.
Poodle, Yorkshire Terrier, Shih-Tzu and the Chinese Imperial Dog. My
dream is alive and well. My dogs are not kept in runs. They are crated
at night, and run and play with their toys and each other most of the
day just as I dreamed. I am their leader and they count on me to lead
them to all that they need in their lives. My puppies and mothers are in
my kitchen where I touch them and watch them as much as I can. I don't
keep house like I once did. It is just not as important any more. My
priorities have changed. I know what is really important to me and what
can wait. I think the more I simplify, which is very hard for a pack rat
like me, the easier life becomes, and the more fulfilled I am.
I am glad I found you all and look forward to the future!

Born and raised (second generation) in a small town
in central Washington state, my family has raised Shih Tzu's for over 30
years. Never married, I have devoted myself to raising my "fluffy
family" ALL ALONE (can we hear an AHHHH!). Never the less, my pets ARE
my KIDS as well as my life. Each and everyone of them with their own
personality are spoiled rotten and I don't care. They are mine and I've
spoiled them! I recently had to put AhChuE (15 years old) down last year
due to kidney failure and a heart murmer. Little MiChu B Trouble (shy 1
month to be 16 years old) pasted away 01/08/07 at 3:30pm from a heart
murmer and I suspect kidney failure. I have one more elder dog left...
18 year old MaiLing, who is deaf and blind, but can still get around
without much help from me. I am her eyes and ears and help her WHEN SHE
NEEDS HELP and that isn't very often. Then I have my NEXT GENERATION...I
recently purchased a male from The Shire...little ChaCheeng. Some of
you will know him as "Mr. February" from the 2007 CIDCA calander. the
light of my life! He has brought so much happiness into my life. I will
soon be picking up my second pup from The Shire... little ChaChia. She
will be play mate for ChaCheeng. I am planning on purchasing a 3rd pup
from the Shire in another year or two. I don't want to go through losing
my kids like I have this year...one right after the other...TOO HEART
BREAKING.

It is my mission to breed beautiful healthy loving
Shih Tzu puppies. It is important to me that each of our pups goes to a
loving home where they will be loved as much as I loved them for the
short time they are with me.
I have over 20 years of experience with dogs,
cats, and horses. I discovered the Shih Tzu a few years ago and fell in
love instantly.
My pups are home raised in my bedroom and Kitchen and have been well
socialized with my kids as well as my family.
I started showing on 2007 showing both AKC and at
International shows. We have 1 champion so far and are hoping for many
more in the future. I'm dedicated to help improve the Shih Tzu breed and
want to produce my own line of Imperials that I look foreword to
showing in the future.!" Tasty Treat's Shih Tzu Email Me for Puppies Available

Deana Jordan

I have been a responsible dog owner all my life. Most of the dogs I cared for were rescued from the pound or stray dogs that simply showed up from out of nowhere in the middle of the night.
One such rescue involved a Shih Tzu (the 12 lb kind). Although he was sweet and adorable too, it was from reading about the Shih Tzu breed in general that I learned about Chinese Imperial Shih Tzu. I knew immediately that I had to have one of the “little” ones.
After nearly a year of looking and searching various ads and web sites I found a little girl and named her Pebbles. Then, I got a call from a woman who changed her mind and now had a little boy to sell. Suddenly found myself with two adorable “little” ones, a boy and a girl.
On August 30, 2010, my little Imp, Pebbles, brought into the world four of the cutest, most adorable, little teeny tiny puppies I’ve ever been blessed to hold and love – well okay, the little boy Imp had something to do with it too! Today, they are 8wks old, thriving, healthy, and beautiful.
Yesterday, I had a person/family express interest in one of the puppies which led to an agreement for the transfer of a puppy. I got teary-eyed when it finally hit me that someone was actually going to show up (in another week or two) and take my puppy away! But – knowing the family is a wonderful family, and seeing their joy at receiving one of these precious little jewels – makes it bearable; at least!
Sincerely,
jordanslittlejewels@yahoo.com

My name is Patty Lieburn,. I live in the Midwest in Wisconsin with my husband and 3 children on 7 acres in the rural countryside. I became involved with the Imperial Shih Tzu a number of years ago and since the purchase of my very first Imperial have been addicted and truly dedicated towards this wonderful breed.
I have a strong interest in the Health and Genetics of these darlings due to my medical background. Breeding for overall Health, Quality, and Temperament in a tiny size are my goals.
I feel very fortunate as there is nothing comparable to an Itty Bitty, Baby Doll Faced Imperial Shih Tzu!
Through the hard work of our Club and its many wonderful members and breeders I am hoping to see our Chinese Imperial Dogs go onto become a breed unto itself and get the recognition and respect it rightfully deserves.

Claudia Castro
CA
Allow me to introduce myself, my name is Claudia Castro. My affair with Shih tzus started when I was very young. I'd say about 7 yrs old. My uncle's girlfriend owned two lovely Shih tzus
(two black/white partis to be exact) I remember admiring them every time I saw them. I was also mesmerized by how friendly and calm they were, even with strangers.
I purchased my first Shih tzu over 6 yrs ago and trust me, its the best thing I have ever done! My Shih tzus complete me, without them my life wouldn't be the same. I cannot tell you what a great investment I've done for myself. Every morning they wake me up with their sweet loving kisses, and they are just so devoted, wholly and completely to me. I've owned other breeds but nothing surpasses the Shih tzu they are so smart, and human like! This is the reason why I decided to start my own breeding program, for the love of the Shih tzu breed. My ultimate goal and satisfaction is to produce better, healthier, more beautiful Shih tzu. Additionally I would love to enhance, and make difference in the breeding community. I also want others to experience what it is to be owned by a Shih tzu. You can't ask for a better listener, lap warmer, or loyal friend. This is just not a hobby of mine, I could truly say that Shih tzus are my life! Here at Luxurious Shih tzu, we have a "Passion for Perfection." I'm very cautious about bringing anything directly into my breeding program that is significantly outside my overall picture of breed. I do my best to make it a point to have a very clear mental idea of what I consider correct for the Shih tzu breed, for I use only those who maintain that exact image. I am truly happy to be a part of a club who share the same passion, and devotion as me for the Chinese Imperial Dog.
Are you ready to be loved unconditionally? If so, enrich your life with a beautiful & healthy Luxurious Shih tzu puppy today!
Cheers to all the Tzu Lovers!
